Dental Malocclusion – Misaligned Teeth

Dental malocclusion means the teeth are not aligned properly resulting in crowded teeth, misaligned teeth, crossbite, overbite, underbite, or an open bite.

Types of Dental Malocclusion

A normal dental occlusal fit is the manner in which the upper and lower teeth come properly together when the mouth is closed. The upper teeth are slightly forward of the lower teeth. Malocclusion is an abnormal fit and is classified by how the upper and lower teeth fit together (bite). The bones of the jaw are also checked for proper position in relation to the teeth.
