Types of Dental Malocclusion
A normal dental occlusal fit is the manner in which the upper and lower teeth come properly together when the mouth is closed. The upper teeth are slightly forward of the lower teeth. Malocclusion is an abnormal fit and is classified by how the upper and lower teeth fit together (bite). The bones of the jaw are also checked for proper position in relation to the teeth.
Most common malocclusion (poor bite) are:
- Overjet: Upper Protrusion Buck Teeth
- Overbites: Top Front teeth cover all of the lower front teeth
- Crossbites: Top teeth are inside of the lower teeth
- Open bites: Not all of the top and bottom teeth meet
- Crowding of Teeth
- Spacing of teeth
- Misplaced midline
- Tooth rotation
- Transposition
