Rest in Peace, Snore no More!
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is one of the most common, but potentially serious forms of Sleep-disordered breathing (SDB). People of all ages, shapes and sizes can suffer from OSA without ever knowing it. In fact, an estimated 90% of the people who have OSA have never been diagnosed.
The repeated awakenings associated with OSA make normal restorative sleep impossible. People with obstructive sleep apnea often experience severe daytime drowsiness, fatigue, depression or irritability. They may have difficulty concentrating and may fall asleep at work, while watching TV, or driving.
Many adult OSA patients also complain of:
• memory problems
• morning headaches
• mood swings
• decreased libido
• nighttime sweating
• need to urinate frequently at night
Obstructive sleep apnea is considered a serious medical condition with severe long-term complications, if left untreated. The more severe the OSA, the greater the risk of abnormal heart rhythms, coronary artery disease, heart attack, heart failure, or sudden death from a cardiac event. Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machines are traditionally prescribed for OSA, but they are not the only treatment option!
Dr. Greg Greenberg, award-winning Frisco orthodontist, is in partnership with Frisco Oral Sleep Devices, treating OSA using Oral Sleep Devices/Dental Appliances. Dr. Greenberg has over 35 years of orthodontic training, in addition to airway-specific training, making him uniquely qualified to recognize SDB/OSA symptoms, screen using the latest iCAT 3D airway technology, and assist in diagnosis/development of a personalized treatment plan.
If you or your bed partner snore loudly or wear a noisy CPAP, we invite you to come learn about the devastating effects of obstructive sleep apnea and non-invasive treatment options. The event is Saturday, Sept 21 from 10am-Noon at Frisco Oral Sleep Devices (6801 Warren Pkwy, Suite 121, Frisco, TX 75034). Attendees will be registered for a chance to WIN a FREE iCAT 3D airway scan during the event!
Cost: $10/person | $15/couple (includes lite snacks). Educating event benefiting A Motivating Love.
