The i-CAT FLX Cone Beam 3D Imaging System uses a cone-shaped beam to scan and capture a high-definition 3D full model of your mouth, airway and sinuses – rather than a series of flat x-ray images normally used by an orthodontist. In a few seconds, one scan provides enough data to diagnose and develop a treatment plan for your beautiful smile!

This advanced orthodontic technology used for 3D CBCT imaging gives a safer diagnosis, with less radiation than standard digital x-rays, adds increased comfort for patients who are seated in an open environment with plenty of space, and allows views of all anatomies such as bone, teeth, tooth orientation, tooth and nerve relation, airways and sinuses. This increased visualization is extremely important, not just for dental or orthodontic needs, but also for TMJ and pediatric airway analysis, orthodontic and oral surgery planning.
Getting the full 3D picture
Drs. Greenberg & Ortiz use 3D CBCT imaging because it’s far superior to traditional digital 2D x-ray for evaluating the full facial and dentition in exacting detail in order to give a more accurate diagnosis and treatment plan for orthodontic issues. Not only that, but having the higher level of detail allows measurement of sinus and airway passages in order to automatically compute the total airway volume, and view segmented areas of constriction to aid in the treatment planning of pediatric obstructive sleep apnea and other airway disorders. With our 3D CBCT imaging system, you’ll be able to visualize everything needed to move your teeth before you start orthodontic treatment.
The bottom line is that the more anatomical information available, the better Drs. Greenberg & Ortiz can diagnose and develop an effective treatment plan. This advanced, patient-friendly dental imaging system is designed to provide greater flexibility in scanning, planning, and treatment. Three-dimensional radiography captures information not possible with 2D x-ray.
