Pitts21 Braces are Game-Changing!
Painful, Clunky Braces are a Thing of the Past with Pitts21 Bracket System
If the word “braces” makes you think of tight wires, sore teeth, and a million orthodontist visits… think again! The Pitts21 self-ligating system is nothing like the traditional braces you’re thinking of. They’re more comfortable, easier to clean, and often lead to faster results with fewer appointments. Translation? A beautiful smile and a better experience!
So, What Are Self-Ligating Braces?
Well, to fully explain this let’s back it up and first explain how braces actually move your teeth. Braces work by applying constant, gentle pressure to shift your teeth into the right spot, and the wire is what does most of that work.
In traditional braces, that wire is held in place by tiny rubber bands. Those elastics and wires have to be tightened regularly to keep the pressure on your teeth.
With self-ligating braces like Pitts21, there are no elastics holding the wire. Instead, the bracket itself is a spring-loaded clip that holds the wire in place. The brackets being spring-loaded means that they apply a more consistent and controlled pressure on the wire over time, with the need for tightening visits at the orthodontist being eliminated.
This small design change makes a big difference! It allows the wire to move more easily, which helps your teeth shift into place with less pressure and friction. This can mean:
- More comfort (especially without the need for tightening)
- Faster, more efficient teeth movement
- Easier to keep clean without the need for elastics
- And less in-between appointments
And did we mention that Pitts21 braces are one of the most advanced types of self-ligating braces out there?!

Why Are Pitts21 Self-Ligating Braces a Game-Changer?
Pitts21 braces come with a few major perks, and these self-ligating brackets have truly changed the game when it comes to the experience of having braces:
- Fewer Office Visits: Since the brackets are spring-loaded and adjust the wire gradually on their own, there is no need for elastics, and therefore no tightening appointments. This means less time in the chair and more time doing what you love.
- More Comfortable Experience: No rubber bands means less friction and pressure on your teeth, meaning less soreness after appointments and a smoother overall experience.
- Braces Off Sooner: Because the braces are designed to keep steady pressure on your teeth they can often move more efficiently, which might mean less time in braces overall!
- Easier to Keep Clean: Because there are no rubber bands, which oftentimes trap food and lead to plaque buildup, and they are smaller than traditional braces they are easier to clean.
- Subtler Look: You’ll still see the braces (they are braces, after all), but self-ligating brackets have a cleaner, less bulky appearance. There are also clear bracket options available if you’re looking for something even more low-key.
There are not many disadvantages that come with the Pitts21 self-ligating braces. They do tend to cost slightly more than traditional braces, however many dental insurance companies typically cover these to the same extent as traditional braces (Check with your provider to determine your specific coverage). Also, as with any braces, there is a slight adjustment period where your mouth may be irritated and you have to get used to having them on your teeth. Fortunately though, self-ligating braces can actually be more comfortable than traditional braces.

Smiles That Go Beyond Straight Teeth
Not only do self-ligating braces align your teeth and create a beautiful smile, they are also clinically proven to enhance facial aesthetics! Patients often notice a change in their face as well, such as:
- Fuller, wider smiles
- Straighter, less crowded teeth
- Enhance facial balance
- Smoother cheek contours
- Less dark triangles around the mouth
- Improved profiles
