How the “Super Dentist” Selection Process Works

Super Dentists are selected by a thorough multiphase process that combines peer nominations, peer evaluations based on practice area, plus independent research of MSP Communications. We’re thrilled that Dr. Greenberg received this designation because consumers have the opportunity to use the Super Dentist directory to find top dentists and orthodontists in Texas.

Nomination Process

A pool of candidates is create and dentists are invited to openly nominate colleagues (not themselves) whom they believe are experts in their specialized dental field. Doctors are asked to put themselves in a consumer’s shoes… “If you need care in one of these speciality fields, which dentist would you choose?” Independent researchers are also asked to search medical databases, online sources, and publications for dentists who have attained specific credentials, honors or professional achievements. This process helps to add to the pool of candidates to include dentists in less visible or highly specialized medical treatment areas.

Evaluation Process

Once all the ballots are in, each candidate is evaluated using a point system, on key indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement including:

• Years of experience
• Fellowships
• Professional activities
• Leadership positions
• Academic achievements/positions
• Board certifications
• Publications, lectures & presentations
• Honors and awards
• Other outstanding achievement

Review Process

Nominees are grouped into their specialties and those with the highest scores from the nomination and evaluation steps are invited to serve on a “blue ribbon panel.” Each panelist is asked to review and evaluate a list of nominees from his/her area of focus.

The Final Selection

The last step is to total the points each nominee received throughout this process. Only the highest-scoring doctors are included on the “Super Dentist” list. Each candidate is contacted to verify their professional information and to verify they have not been subject to disciplinary or criminal proceedings. The research staff also independently reviews the discipline record of each candidate before publication and verifies that each dentist selected is active and in good standing. A candidate’s name will not be published on the Super Dentists list unless all information is confirmed.
